Abstract: Varietal diversification of paddy refers to the practice of cultivating different rice varieties within the same field or across a farm. This approach offers several advantages over planting a single variety: Different rice varieties have varying levels of resistance to pests and diseases. By planting a diverse range of varieties, farmers can reduce the overall impact of an outbreak on their crops. Varietal diversification can help farmers to adapt the changing climate by ensuring that at least some of their crops will survive in challenging conditions. A wider range of adaptable rice varieties can help to ensure food security, especially in regions vulnerable to crop failures due to pests, diseases, or climate extremes. Planting a diverse range of rice varieties can create a more complex habitat that attracts beneficial insects and pollinators. Present study aims to examine the Economic Analysis Of Varietal Diversification Of Paddy in Bilaspur District of Chhattisgarh. To fulfil the various objectives, present study was conducted in Masturi and Bilha block of Bilaspur district 101 farmers was selected randomly. Study resulted that the average size of holding was to be 1.94 Ha. Over all literacy percentage was observed to be 76.49 percentage only paddy crop was growing in the kharif season. The diversity index was 0.46 The dominant paddy varieties were Swarna, Mahamaya, HMT, and Hybrid (arise 6444 and arise 8433 ), total cost of cultivation of swarna variety was rupees 63723.80 Rs., Net return was 63987.87 Rs. and B:C ratio was 1: 1.01. Major source of paddy seed were self retained seed and primary agricultured co-operative society. Major constraints in paddy production and seed availability were; more reliance on one-two varieties, lack of communication services, distance of market (Primary Agriculture Credit Society) were far from the farm, no near market, higher price of seed, lack of information about HYV, etc. Study suggested that the farmer may practicing more diverse variety of paddy. By establishing a close link between the researches, extension system and farming community, there constraints could be overcome.
