Abstract: The study examines sugarcane production and marketing in the Basti district of Uttar Pradesh, India. It uses a multistage sampling procedure to select the district, blocks, villages, respondents, and market functionaries. The research aims to understand factors influencing sugarcane production and marketing in the area. The analysis reveals a need for educational and technical support for small-scale farmers. The study also highlights the efficiency advantage of direct dealings with sugar factories over village dealers.
